Everyday I look at my PC I remember the days I struggled to play the simplest of games out there. I used to dream of what life would be like if I had a PC strong enough to handle the games and content I wanted to enjoy. Now that dream has become a reality.

My Build consists of:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9–9900k
  • GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC Ultra
  • RAM: 32GB (2x16GB)
  • Monitor: LG 34GN850-B | 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide Monitor
  • OS: Windows 10

The CPU

The i9–9900k is a BEAST. Intel’s 9th generation Core processors, also known as the Coffee Lake Refresh, depicts another step forward in their continuous battle for supremacy in the industry. It boasts a 3.6GHz base clock, eight cores, sixteen threads, and supports up to 64GB of ram. The i9–9900k is compatible with Z390, Z370, B360, H310, H370, and Q370 chipsets. The Z390 chipset is recommended for i9–9900k builds and provides the best future-proofing if you decide to upgrade later.

The GPU

The RTX 2080 Ti is a standalone monster of a gaming GPU. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 20 series cards are the first ever to make use of GDDR6 memory technology. The RTX 2080 Ti comes with 11GB GDDR6 memory and runs at 14Gbps memory bandwidth. The scaling of video games are dependent on this memory bandwidth, especially 4k gaming needing that extra umph in GPU power. “GeForce RTX™ graphics cards are powered by the Turing GPU architecture and the RTX platform. This gives you up to 6X the performance of previous-generation graphics cards and brings the power of real-time ray tracing and AI-powered DLSS 2.0 to games”.

Once you go ultrawide there’s no going back !

This gem boasts an IPS panel that ensures vibrant colors from all angles. It’s ultrawide resolution is 3440 x 1440 which provides an amazing immersive experience. Moreover it has a a fast response time, low input lag and comes with G-Sync compatibility. IPS monitors are known for their low contrast ratio. In comparison to VA monitors the black levels will not be as defined. The LG Ultragear monitor comes with a stock refresh rate of 144hz and will have the option to overclock up to 160hz. “The 21:9 ultrawide format makes compatible games, videos, and movies significantly more immersive, and you also get extra horizontal workspace for productivity and editing work.” -displayninja. If you use text editors alot and have to switch between files every so often then this ultrawide monitor will change your life. For example in VS Code I am now able to have a vertical split of about 5 files opened next to each other for a seamless coding experience. The LG Ultragear(LG 34GN850-B) comes with one DisplayPort 1.4, dual-USB 3.0 hub, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and a headphone jack. Prices for this monitor comes in just around $1000. If you want an ultra-wide 3440 x 1440 144Hz monitor with a fast response time speed, striking colors, and smooth VRR performance, it’s certainly the best model you can get below $1,000.
